Why is it important to teach kids to listen to and understand their feelings and instincts?

• Instincts, often referred to as “gut feelings” or “intuition,” serve as early warning signals that something might be wrong or unsafe.
• Instincts can sometimes detect danger even before a child can consciously identify what the threat might be.
•  By paying attention to their instincts, children may recognize subtle cues or red flags that indicate a situation is unsafe, allowing them to take action to remove themselves from harm’s way.
• Teaching children to trust their instincts empowers them to assert their boundaries and advocate for their own safety. It encourages them to speak up or seek help when they feel uncomfortable or threatened, rather than ignoring or dismissing their feelings.
• By learning to trust their instincts, children become more confident in their ability to navigate challenging situations and make decisions that prioritize their safety and well-being.
